Mary Martha Butler, 99, of Yorktown, TX passed away at home on June 22, 2024. She was born May 25, 1925 in Mansfield, Texas to Rev. Almus Day and Lennis Balch Jameson. As the daughter of a Methodist Preacher, she attended school in many West Texas & Southern New Mexico towns. She graduated from Rockport High School, then attended McMurry College in Abilene, Texas and graduated from beautician school in Austin, Texas. Martha was a career housewife and mother, a devoted, faithful Christian and a lifelong Methodist.

She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Gordon Haines (with whom she had two sons: Gordon Haines, Jr and Bruce Jackson), second husband Robert L. Jackson, brother Ashley Day Jameson and nephew Arlen Dirk Jameson.

Survivors include husband Harold Butler with whom she welcomed his children (David, Susan and Rick), sons Gordon Haines (Mary) of Manassas, Virginia and Bruce Jackson (Lauren) of Victoria, Texas, 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Yorktown for over 60 years, serving in several capacities including Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Leader and Treasurer for many years.

Martha’s last few years were shared with Harold and amazing, kind caregivers. A very special thanks to Cynthia Villarreal, who led a team of amazing caregivers.

Pallbearers will be grandsons & great-grandchildren.

Visitation 10 am Friday, June 28, 2024 at Massey Funeral Home. Funeral Service to begin at 11 am. Interment at Nordheim Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given in her honor to First United Methodist Church Yorktown, Yorktown EMS or Hospice of South Texas.
